The Code of Good Practice on key aspects of HIV/Aids suggests that employers should ensure that staff is properly trained in how to handle any employee who may be involved in an accident that involves blood.

It is essential that not only the first-aid staff know how to handle such situations to minimise the chances of infection to other people, but that all staff should be equipped with the knowledge to safeguard themselves and others.

In addition to proper infection control procedures to prevent people from being exposed to infection, educating all staff can dispel myths, fears and popular misconceptions creating a better work environment.

HIV/Aids is very real threat in the South African workplace, therefore the aim of this course is to empower all employees, trainees and managers with the necessary knowledge to not only understand HIV/Aids in the workplace, but to equip them with the skills to safeguard themselves and others, should the situation arise, as well as to meeting management’s expectations in this regard.
